Where to Stay on the Darling Long Beach Peninsula: At The Helm

September 30, 2019

The Port of Ilwaco, which sits on the southern end of the Long Beach peninsula

The Long Beach Peninsula is an extremely special place and I find myself being drawn back to it time and time again. My most recent trip to this 28 mile peninsula at the southernmost part of Washington was made even more special because I got to stay at the brand new At The Helm Hotel. This beautiful hotel made from reclaimed lumber sits on the lovely Port of Ilwaco, where boats line the marina and come and go each morning and evening. This is the perfect place to escape. Soak in your serene surroundings and enjoy delicious food from the on site restaurant, the Waterline Pub. Allow me to be your guide and show you this new hotel.

At The Helm Hotel & Pub

Imagine sitting by the fire and sip your morning coffee with this view of the port.
Cuddle up in the fluffiest robes.
Pre-order your breakfast and have it delivered to your room every morning.
The most thoughtfully and beautifully decorated rooms – and everyone is different!
Beautiful touches everywhere.
Lots of natural wood and lots of natural light.
The hotel sits on the beautiful Port of Ilwaco and daily walks by the boats are a must.
They have a beautiful (and quite delicious) bar and restaurant here: the Waterline Pub
The Waterline Pub serves great local beers like this Cathedral Tree Lager from Fort George Beer from Astoria. And FYI, you’ll receive a glass of beer or wine upon check in!
The Waterline Cobb: grilled or fried wild seasonal fish, mixed greens, red onion, avocado, tomato, blue cheese and grilled asparagus (they did it with oil and vinegar for me)
Dungeness Crab Bisque with local crab, parmesan and fresh herbs
Such a lovely place to relax. Visit their website to make your reservation.
