Get Away for the Day with Argosy’s “Evergreen Excursion” to Blake Island!

July 2, 2020

Summer is looking a little different this year – it’s filled with staycations and backyard adventures and I’m on a mission to find (and share!) all the safe, fun things you can do this season! Last weekend, we had the pleasure of experiencing Argosy Cruises new Evergreen Excursion and this is the perfect day trip for families, couples or friends! This five hour adventure takes you from downtown Seattle to Blake Island and now is the perfect time to book – Argosy is offering 25% off all cruises for Washington residents through the end of July! Just use code “COMMUNITY” at checkout!

Bye bye Seattle! It’s a beautiful 45 minute boat ride to the serene, uninhabited Blake Island. FYI – the boat has a bar on it 😉

It should be noted that we only very briefly took our masks off for a few photos and only when outside and away from other passengers. (All employees were wearing masks on our ride over and back and other passengers only briefly removed their masks like us, if they were outside and spaced out from other guests).

Your Evergreen Excursion Experience includes:

  • the 45 minute cruise to and from Blake Island
  • a demonstration on the history or traditionally prepared steelhead
  • a plated lunch featuring fire roasted steelhead and the famous Tillicum bread
  • Short history walk to the ruins of the Trimble Estate
  • Free time to comb the beach, explore the trails or relax
  • An optional kayaking tour add on
  • a steaming mug of clams before you depart and the traditional Tillicum clam crunch

Hello Blake Island! The weather was moody when we arrived but soon gave way to sunshine.

Blake Island is teeming with wildlife; we saw multiple raccoons, deer and seals.

There’s great recreational areas and super clean bathrooms on Blake Island. FYI – you can also camp here (but it’s pack in/pack out and you cannot collect firewood on the island).

Lunch is the first thing on the agenda which begins with this traditional roasted steelhead preparation.

There are also vegetarian, vegan, dairy free and gluten free lunch options available on this excursion!

A guided, 45 minute kayaking tour with Vashon Adventures is an optional add on for this excursion and I highly recommend it.

The beaches on Blake Island are absolutely stunning. This is also where most of the camp sites are if you want to camp on the island. You can find more info on that here.

Before you go, enjoy a steaming mug of flavorful clams.

Goodbye Blake Island, our Argosy chariot awaits!

Book your Evergreen Excursion experience here! And don’t forget to take advantage of Argosy’s July promotion – 25% off ALL cruises for Washington state residents! Just use code “COMMUNITY” at checkout!
