A Look Inside the Glorious Norwegian Joy – Sailing from Seattle to Alaska All Summer Long!

May 17, 2019

I’ve never been one to want to travel by cruise. But the Norwegian Joy doesn’t feel like being on a cruise – it feels like being on a luxury resort floating at sea. This beautiful ocean liner just underwent a $50 million dollar renovation to transform it into the fantastic ship it is now. Last month I had the pleasure of going on the inaugural cruise on this beauty that will be sailing from Seattle to Alaska all summer long. Here’s a peak at why this is an amazing way to spend a week this summer:

This boat has it all, y’all. Multiple pools, hot tubs, water slides, bars, restaurants, and even a go-cart track and laser tag arena are all aboard the Joy to entertain you on your voyage.
Sip on your favorite wine at The Cellars Wine Bar, one of the 15+ bars and lounges on board including a bar in the stunning observation lounge and a bar in the adults only area of the ship, Spice H20.
Did I mention there’s putt-putt on the boat too? There is really no shortage of entertainment here, y’all. They also have a fantastic arcade and a casino on board.
There are several hot tubs scattered around the boat and I highly recommend getting up early to experience a sunrise in one. Can you imagine taking in the sweeping views of Alaska from here?
You can sip on some first rate spirits at Maltings Whiskey Bar, another of the many lounges on the ship. You definitely aren’t going to get bored going to the same bar every night on the Joy, y’all!
Food Republic features dishes from around the globe and is a great dining option on the ship. Make sure to get some sushi, the roll we had was, by far, my favorite thing. There are eight specialty restaurants on board plus multiple Starbucks and a fantastic buffet open for three meals a day, so there’s no shortage of different styles food or types of cuisine.
Of course, there’s a poolside bar with fruity drinks and fantastic views of the Pacific. There’s multiple decks for sunning.
Live Country music and Texas barbecue at Q is one of the many restaurant options on board. We ate here the first night and the jalapeno cheddar grits are a must! Visit the Joy’s website to see their full list of dining options before your trip.
Stunning Pacific Northwest summer sunsets overlooking the Pacific are waiting. From now through the first week of September, the Joy is sailing to Alaska from Seattle for seven night excursions. They offer these cruises for as low as $399 a person and there is an open bar option for you drinkers! Visit their website for more info, this a truly luxurious way of taking in the beauty of Alaska.
