I have had the pleasure of eating and drinking my way through a lot of food and wine festivals in my adult life. I love writing about both, but especially food and the dishes are always the highlight of these events for me. I returned from Arizona this week after attending the azcentral Food and Wine Experience and it was absolutely delicious. I feel very spoiled by all the amazing chefs and restaurants we have in the Pacific Northwest and sometimes (many times) other parts of the country and world don’t measure up culinary wise. I was pleased to discover that Arizona was pretty damn scrumptious and I had a blast tasting my way through the all this festival had to offer. I’m slightly embarrassed at how much I ate, wait – no I’m not. These were my favorite:
The Restaurant: Bourbon and Bones
The Chef: Joshua James “J” Amonson
The Dish: New York Strip on a Crostini with a Bacon Bleu Cheese Sauce and Topped with Crsipy Onion Strings and a Port Wine Reduction
The Restaurant: Sonata’s Restaurant
The Chef: Vincent Contreras
The Dish: Kepta Duona: Crispy Rye Bread Tossed in Duck Fat Aioli and Havarti Cheese
The Restaurant: Handlebar Diner
The Chef: Adam Allison
The Dish: Foie Gras Tamale with Duck Leg Carnitas, Black Cherry Chile Compote, Serrano
The Restaurant: The Market Restaurant + Bar By Jennifer’s
The Chef: Jennifer Russo
The Dish: Milk and Cookies
