2019 was another utterly delicious year in Seattle and I had my camera with me every step of the way. It’s time to post the best of it all and so I dove in to the tens of thousands of photos I took in 2019 a couple weeks ago. I’m finally done and this is the result: the best 47 things I ate in Seattle last year. I hope this makes you very hungry!

Adana launched ramen night at the beginning of 2019 and that made me one very happy girl. Fellow noodle soup lovers – Adana does ramen night every Wednesday!

Chef Dustin Ronspies is doing magical things with soup here, y’all.

Absolutely exquisite.

Definitely the best mac and cheese I had in 2019. (Bad Bishop is currently closed for repairs, set to reopen February of this year.)

This will change the way you look at salads.

I can’t even begin to tell you how ecstatic this southern girl was to find bomb hush puppies in Seattle.

The best griddle cakes/pancakes I’ve had anywhere. I have no idea how they make them gluten free and so damn delicious.

This deliciousness is offered only on Friday and it’s served with three Rainier beers!

The most perfect little tacos; this has become one of my favorite spots in Pioneer Square.

This salad is a masterpiece. Light, bright and flavorful.

All hail the awesomeness of Deep Sea Sugar and Salt. Every cake here is to-die-for.

This baby stands up to any sammie with meat. I eat this at least once a week when I’m in Seattle. (The Delicatus Pioneer Square location closed in 2019 but you can still get their bomb sandwiches at their Benaroya Hall location)

A work of art on a plate.

A bacon & brisket patty, gouda, secret sauce, onion and pickles make this burger perfection.

Just as good as it sounds, y’all.

(complete with real pumpkin pie chunks)

Hands down the best grits I’ve had in Seattle. It’s like super buttery mashed potatoes and grits had a baby.

To be fair, ALL of the doughnuts here are AMAZING but the chocolate marshmallow is my favorite.

The Octopus dish of my dreams.

As an Alabama girl, there is nothing I love more than fried chicken and this biscuit always satisfies my craving.

Truth be told, all of the noodles soups here are incredible and their fried chicken wings are equally awesome.

It goes without saying the pasta at Il Corvo is some of the best in the city. I’m here to tell you that this kale salad was also mindblowingly good.

This is what heaven tastes like.

No one does barbecue like Jack and his beef rib tacos will make you swoon.

As someone who is obsessed with spicy noodle soups, I was beyond stoked to see Japonessa add this to their menu in 2019. It’s spicy and 100% delicious.

Yes the soba at Kamonegi is fantastic, but this foie dish is what I couldn’t stop thinking about. Definitely one of the richest, most flavorful and unique dishes I had in 2019.

This has been one of my favorite things in Seattle for years. It’s absolutely perfect and you can get it at happy hour for just $12.

So simple and so right: charbroiled beef with melted cheese, wrapped up in a toasted white bun with pickles, onions, and special sauce. It’s all you want in a burger.

The perfect end to any meal; do not skip dessert here!

Pro tip: add a blob of burrata on top for an extra $2.

When you are craving paella in Seattle, look no further than this Belltown gem. They also do paella cooking classes here throughout the year, check out the schedule here.

Located just a ferry ride away on Bainbridge Island, this bomb lobster roll is absolutely worth the short trip over from downtown.

This Japanese chain made it’s debut in Seattle about a year ago and I have visited (at least) a dozen times. Their ramen is incredibly rich and flavorful and completely customizable from the thickness of the noodles and broth to the level of umami and heat.

Hands down one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Rockstar chef Rachel Yang tells me it’s been on the menu from the very beginning and has been a guest favorite since day one.

Just as delicious as she is beautiful.

I’m a sucker for soups y’all and this one was sublime.

Thank you Chef Mitch Mayers for making this incredibly decadent brunch dish a reality.

I believe this to be the best damn fried chicken in the Seattle area.

Another kick ass spicy noodle soup I can’t get enough of. This is as good (or better) than any of the many khao sois I ate in Thailand this year.

The perfect breakfast when you’re craving something sweet.

This cake is so moist and delicious; it’s probably my favorite sweet treat in Seattle. However it’s not for sale – you have to be there when they’re handing it out for free, which they do once a day at a random time. All patrons in the shop are offered a piece and if you’re ever lucky enough to be there, ask them to cut you off a big slice.

Sushi Kashiba has really ruined me for all other sushi. The quality and freshness is unmatched and I consider myself very lucky whenever I have a meal here.

It’s not technically Seattle, but it’s so close and so damn good these are going on the list.

I finally got around to trying Tat’s famous Philly Cheesesteak last year and it was even better than I expected.

This killer sammie has spicy tomatoes, burrata, fried shallot, basil and zucchini on sourdough bread.

Savory, spicy and fantastically delicious.

The buttermilk soaked fried onions are what set this masterpiece off.
There she is friends, the 47 most delicious things I ate in Seattle in 2019. It’s such a long process of compiling, editing and laying this massive blog out that it always takes me days. I store every photo I take by year and within that year I have a folder for every single restaurant I photograph (which between work and fun is hundreds), then at the end of the year I go through every single folder searching for my favorites. I’m incredibly happy with the results from 2019 and hope it will inspire you to get out and eat, Seattle!
Happy New Year! – Steph
