Did y’all know that October is National Seafood Month? Yay – another excuse to eat something I love! The boyfriend and I celebrated this yummy occasion with these seriously delicious lobster rolls that we made at home (and you can too because they are so freaking easy)! The most important part of a lobster roll? Why the lobster of course! And, since it’s #NationalSeafoodMonth, it’s the perfect time to remember how important it is to support sustainable seafood!
The Marine Stewardship Council (or the MSC) is a non-profit organization that is devoted to protecting seafood and our oceans for future generations. They work with fisheries, grocery stores, restaurants and beyond worldwide to change the way our oceans are fished and make it simple for customers to identify and purchase sustainable, traceable, wild seafood. They do that with the MSC blue label you see on the packaging. I am always looking for this label on my seafood because it’s such a simple thing we can do to protect our oceans! And you’ll find this label on all kinds of seafood in dozens of grocery stores at every price point.
Here’s what you’ll need for this super simple and incredibly delicious roll:
- Luke’s Maine Lobster Meat with Secret Seasoning (one package is $19.99 and is enough for two HUGE lobster rolls)
- Mayo
- Hot dog buns
- Fresh chives
- Fresh lemon
First let’s get the lobster ready! This knuckle and claw meat is fully cooked already so we just defrosted it and threw it in a skillet with a little butter for a couple minutes to get it ready.
Butter your buns on each side and toast in the same skillet.
Add your mayo! I love the Whole Foods 365 brand; it’s organic and affordable.
Add your lobster meat!
This lobster is gorgeous and you can feel good about eating it because it’s good for you and the oceans! You can buy this Luke’s Lobster kit online here or at Whole Foods! It makes it so easy!
Add the Luke’s Secret Seasoning (which is celery seed powder, sea salt and garlic powder).
Now it’s just time to garnish and add lemon!
Add your chopped chives.
Squeeze your lemon.
Alright y’all, there you have it – two really bomb lobster rolls. It’s so easy (and they were so good)! And you can feel good because you’re supporting a traceable, sustainable source for seafood by purchasing lobster with the MSC blue fish label! Make sure to look for it on your next trip to the grocery store!
