Just an hour and fifteen minutes north of Seattle is a seafood lover’s Utopia; a magical place where you can have an oceanfront picnic with all the freshest oysters, clams, Dungeness crab, mussels, and scallops you could ever want. Beautifully rustic in a perfect Pacific Northwest setting, I’m talking of course, about Taylor Shellfish’s Samish Oyster Bar and Shellfish Market.
There’s a Taylor Shellfish in the Melrose Market in Seattle that’s currently operating, but you won’t get the same sweeping views or that briny, sea air that just makes you feel like you should be eating an oyster (or a Dungeness crab). This is truly a quintessential experience for anyone who loves seafood.
We started with something to warm us up. Don’t sleep on the gumbo here, y’all! It’s perfect on a damp, cool day and it’s New Orleans’ boy approved 😉 .
To me there is nothing better in this world than fresh oysters and a bottle of bubbles. (And the oysters don’t get any fresher than this, y’all.)
Forget regular charcuterie, Taylor Shellfish is serving their own house-made seafood charcuterie featuring smoked and cured seafood and its fantastic.
Enjoy your seafood feast under their heated deck, or if the weather is nice, slurp your oysters in their waterfront picnic area. It’s absolutely worth the short (and beautiful) drive from Seattle.
