It’s been another whirlwind of a year packed with lots of travel and I’m frantically trying to share all the amazing places I’ve been, food I’ve eaten and hotels I’ve stayed at with you before we ring in 2020! By far one of my favorite hotels I stayed at this year (or ever) was The Hotel Peter and Paul in New Orleans. This masterpiece was a four year restoration project of the former Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church and school and is guaranteed to be one of the most unique hotels you’ll ever visit.
The hotel is comprised of four different buildings and takes up an entire block. This is where you’ll check in, at the School House.
No two rooms are alike in this building should you choose to stay in this portion of the hotel, and there are stunning common spaces where you can get some work done or kick back with a good book.
Quite possible the most photogenic hotel I have ever stayed in.
Events take place in the former church on site here (this has to be the coolest event venue ever, right?). Check their event calendar to see what’s happening when you’re there – you’ll find everything from pilates and yoga to live music!
The inside of The Church – I mean, who wouldn’t want to do yoga in this stunning space?
This building is the former convent where the nuns lived and is where we stayed. The rooms are stunning and there’s also an ice cream shop, Sundae’s Best, downstairs (so heaven for me)!
This hotel is home to one of my favorite restaurants I visited this year, The Elysian Bar. With its fabulous design and delicious Southern menu comprised of shareable plates inspired by “deconstructed brunch”; it’s not hard to see why Bon Appetit named this one of America’s Best New Restaurants 2019.
The Whole Roasted Gulf Shrimp here are a must order. They were so fabulous in fact, that I had them three times over the course of our two night stay. The Red Heirloom Grits are also to die for, y’all. (See my blog on The Elysian Bar here.)
There’s also a stunning courtyard where you can sip libations and nibble on your favorite dishes.
This place is really a photographer or hotel lover’s dream. It’s steeped in history, and P.S. – they offer daily tours of the property at 4pm for its guests so you can view the entire property and get it’s full backstory.
Thank you for a wonderful stay Hotel Peter and Paul!
