Where to Eat and Drink in Victoria, BC!

August 15, 2019

Victoria, BC is as an astonishingly delicious city. I’ve made several trips up the past year and I’m blown away by the food every time. It also happens to be one of the most adorable damn cities I’ve been to yet, making it an amazing place to explore.

Getting to Victoria is not only super fun; but it’ super easy on the Victoria Clipper (traveling by boat is my new favorite thing!). It’s not nearly the hassle that driving or flying is; and in less than three hours, you’re transported from downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria! But let’s get to the food; here’s your list of everywhere to eat and drink in this magical city!

Nourish Kitchen & Cafe: Nourish is my idea of a perfect restaurant. Delicious, fresh flavorful things abound on their menu that changes with the seasons. There’s a walk up counter for getting drinks to go (or there delicious bone broth) and there’s the most darling garden out back to enjoy when the weather is nice.

Cashew Cheese with Buckwheat Seedy Bread
The Matchalicious and the Imperial Sunrise
Lavender Lemonade
Sweet Potato & Turnip Noodle Bowl
Kale & Root Veggie Salad

Red Fish Blue Fish: Get ready for the best fish and chips of your life, y’all. This Victoria hot spot is loved by tourists and locals alike. Located in an upcycled shipping container on the waterfront, it makes for a not only delicious but super fun place to grab a casual meal (that may be one of the best you have all year).

Expect a line when you visit (it’s worth the wait).
Chipotle Coconut and Sweet Corn with Pacific White Fish Confit (the chowder is just as good as the fish and chips here)
BC Halibut Fish and Chips
Such a lovely spot to enjoy the best lunch!

Kid Sister Ice Cream: Y’all know I have an ice cream problem and I can’t go to Victoria without visiting Kid Sister located down the ever adorable Fan Tan Alley. Take a walk down and enjoy some fantastic local ice cream.

Fan Tan Alley is a must visit when in Victoria.
What can I say? I’m basic; I love vanilla ice cream 🙂

Jusu Bar: I do a lot of eating when I travel and I like to start my day with something healthy. Jusu Bar is an awesome pressed juice spot that also serves bomb wraps, sandwiches, smoothies and bowls. I popped in here for juice both on more than one occasion on my last visit.

Zambri’s: Zambri’s is a Victoria classic; they’ve been serving up Italian soul food since 1999 and you can feel the love for what they do in the food! If you are craving a delicious bowl of pasta and a fantastic bottle of red, this is definitely your go to.

Insalata Mista
Mezze Rigatoni all’Amatriciana
Beef Filetto Fonduta with Polenta

Jam Cafe: Be prepared to wait in line for a seat here (but trust me, it’s worth it). Jam offers killer brunch and brunch cocktails; it’s the perfect place to head in the morning when you have a hangover, or just if you want some bomb breakfast fare.

Blood Orange Mimosa (this is single size, they also serve DOUBLE mimosas here, y’all)
Lemon Curd Dutch Baby

Boom + Batten: Boom + Batten is Victoria’s newest stunning waterfront dining option. The Pacific Northwest inspired menu is fresh, tasty, and the cocktails are just as beautiful as the dishes. This would make for a great date night or large group dinner option.

Topsoil Greens Salad with very local lettuce + vegetables, red wine vinaigrette
Snake River American Wagyu Beef Ribeye
The Flora + Fauna: Van Island Stump Gin, Green Chartreuse, Alternative Acid, Spruce Tip and Chanterelle Tincture- served in glass lantern with smoked maple wood–
You’re guaranteed to feel fancy when sipping this gorgeous libation

Bodega: This wine and tapas bar is the perfect place to pop in for some Spanish wine and small plates. I kept it simple with a glass of Cava and some Manchego cheese. They also have a nice sherry selection here.

Saveur Restaurant: This is a must do brunch spot while in Victoria. I dare say the Egg ‘McDuckin’ Breakfast Sandwich pictured below is one of my favorite brunch or breakfast items I’ve had anywhere. The combination of the savory duck bacon and sweet thyme-orange marmalade mayo is magical.

The Egg ‘McDuckin’ Breakfast Sandwich: Egg, Duck Bacon, Duck Confit, Pickled Fennel Orange Slaw, Thyme-Orange Marmalade Mayo; Greens or Rosti Potato
Banana Bread French Toast with Orange, Hazelnuts, Maple-Bourbon Chocolate Syrup

The Courtney Room: The Courtney Room is a special place. We dined here on my birthday last year and were blown away by the attentive staff, elegant upstairs dining room and the creative, flavorful dishes. I highly recommend doing tasting menu. Splurge and go for the wine pairings too; they feature some fantastic local wines that go beautifully with the food here.

One of my many incredible dishes on their tasting menu.

The Blue Crab: Located inside the Coast Hotel between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Inner Harbour, the Blue Crab while unassuming, will be one of the best meals you’ll have in Victoria. Enjoy stunning views of the marina while you nosh on incredibly fresh seafood dishes (they have local fish delivered here daily.)

Waterfront dining at it’s best at The Blue Crab
Crab + Prawn Amuse Bouche
Scallop with Pork Belly over Slaw
Fresh Island Halibut over Cous Cous
Filet and Lobster
Bread Pudding with Local Gooseberries

Q Cocktail Bar at the Empress Hotel: Cocktails at Q at the Empress are 100% necessary when in Victoria. This is where the that gorgeous purple Empress gin comes from (made with pea flower grown onsite at the Empress) so they have an array of fun and fabulous purple cocktails for you to sip on!

Bye bye Victoria! Thanks for reading and y’all make sure to check out the Clipper Vacations website to book your trip to this delicious city!
